Normally the term "brake Booster" refers to the power brake booster unit under the hood of a vehicle with power brakes, but I don't think that is what
you are asking about (is it?}.

The Brake Buddy, and similar units, is a self contained device that sits on the floor of the towed and is connected to the brake pedal. It actuates
the towed brakes when the tow vehicle stops.  I have one that I found on Craig's list for $350.00 about 12 years ago.  It has given me good service
and I've never had any kind of a problem with it.  The vacuum needs to be bled off of the booster in the towed car before using it, otherwise the
towed brakes will lock up.  There is no need to have the brake booster in the towed powered up in any way.
